on tenterhooks
Sep. 14th, 2004 03:05 pmso, this is what they'll do: If I get the job, they'll probably call on Wednesday, i.e. tomorrow, when I'm busy commuting to Brighton to see my therapist. My husband has been alerted to man the answerphone.
They might also call on Thursday if they had to postpone the decision.
But if I haven't heard by Friday morning, I am not their first choice, and they are negotiating with their favoured candidate.
Once those negotiations are finished, the other candidates will receive a letter through the post.
As a colleague of mine said: "If you get a letter before a phone call, you didn't get the job."
What a lovely, lovely system ...
I will update you guys on Thursday evening (latest) - Thursday is a very busy day for me.
