knowing your religion

An interesting article here argues that America, even though a country with many deeply religious people, knows too little about religion per se. Not just about the fundamentals of the Christian religion, but also about other religions, such as Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism, Daoism. It's not difficult to slag off other faiths because all you hear about them are scandalous headlines. That's where we get stereotypes such as "All Catholics are pedophiles" or "All mormons have at least 2 wives" or "Islam is a religion of bearded fundamentalists where women have no rights".

Personally, I find I need to learn more about Islam and Hinduism.

I agree. There does need to be more tolerance of and education about other religions.

And thanks for not asking me if I have horns on my head (another common Mormon question). :P

And why would anyone ask that? That's just rude!

I do agree that people don't know enough about other faiths.

One of the weirder misconceptions....
