We have bottle feeding!

Today, Ruth took her first 40 ml of expressed breast milk from a bottle, skilfully adminstered by Daddy. We decided to take this step because breast feeding is well established, and it's nice to have the flexibility. Another 30 ml is sitting in the fridge for her to guzzle.

Congratulations! This will also mean that you can have a proper break, too, which is vital.

*hugs*

We never found using a bottle disrupted other feeding. It can in useful occasionally and makes the father feel more of the process. We had to use a bottle and fomular for Meg when she was first born as her mouth was too small to suckle but as soon as she grew a bit she went back to the breast.

It's good she took it - well done :-) I found that after breastfeeding was established, mine would never accept a bottle from anyone, even if they were very, very hungry. That's why I ended up only working mornings, so I could get back in time to feed one screaming baby!

Yay for Ruth! And for Daddy! Now Mum can get some well-needed rest, maybe even sleep through the night while Dad gets up! :)

Aww, cool! So glad she's feeding well, that is such a good thing. My sister had trouble sustaining enough production to feed Lia, so they moved her onto a bottle after a month.

Me, I'm going to be an aunt again! My brother and sister's China adoption went through, they will be leaving as soon as possible to pick the baby up (eta November). Whee!
