All fall down
Oct. 30th, 2005 07:06 pmOur baby took her first fall today. I was lying on the floor on my back, she was propped up against my knees, and I was fumbling for a cloth because she'd spat up all over me while she had some tummy time on Mummy. She lost what little balance she had, and fell straight onto our laminate floor. Seeing her lying there was a horrible, horrible sight. Right now, I'm more upset than she is. She howled for a grand total of one minute, until Daddy and the pacifier managed to calm her down. I've phoned NHS Direct now (24 hour info service) to check signs of concussion or trauma. And I've looked up falls on babycenter.com. I don't think anything serious happened, but still ... OMG, OMG, OMG. I will only be happy if I have my smily girl back tomorrow morning. Right now, she's bound to be irritable - it's evening, and this is when she alternates between feeding, napping, and complaining until she finally dozes off at 10 or 11pm and has a nice big sleep, from which she wakes at 7am, with a somnolent feed at 4am or 5am.
In slightly related news, I met the wonderful
mrsronweasley on Thursday. We talked life and babies, and I showed her the Elephant House.
