I know, I know, but bear with me. Since JKR definitely won't be at the Waterstone's on Prince's Street, I would suggest changing to Blackwell's again. Blackwell's opens at 10pm, Waterstone's at 12.01. What difference doth that make, I hear you cry?
Well, quite a lot, actually.
- The Waterstone's will be overrun; there'll be queues in the street for hours
- Edinburgh weather in July can be ... inclement, to say the least. I remember one July when
the pub down the road from where I worked didn't manage to get their front painted in time
for the festival. Nuff said.
- A young witch-in-training will be keeping us company. DD is not night-weaned yet, and I
really can't be away from her during the night, or she'll scream the house down. Trust me.
I had hoped we'd be farther along, but we aren't. We know Blackwell's very well, and they
know us, and I'd rather be in a safe warm dry place for two hours than camping out next
to a very busy road. She's an excellent buggy sleeper as long as I'm around to nurse her
back down when she wakes up.
For those of you that have pre-ordered, if you can't change your pre-order, I'm happy to buy the books off you. I was planning to send signed books to people in the States anyway, and I'd use some of the Waterstone's books for that.
right now, it looks like there'll be six 1/2 of us:
cynthia_black,
angelofthenorth,
hildigunnur,
sarka, a very cool Snape fan named Devoran, The Amazing Mini-Witch, and me, with guest stars
if0x and
s00. I still have two crash spaces left, so if you like, feel free to join us! I'm sure Blackwell's takes last-minute pre-orders.
This reminds me: Who of my LJ friends would like a signed British copy? Leave your names in the comments. The copy will be signed by everybody at the Edinburgh moot, and shipped to you using Airmail Printed Paper on Monday. In return, you can get me some books from my Amazon wishlist. The only exception is
chrysantza, who will get a free English copy if she only says "Yes!"
