I am very healthy ...

The lead scare was a non-event: next to no lead in my blood. So no lead poisoning. It's said that hair analysis is more reliable, because it gives a long-term picture of the body's minerals, but then hair can also be affected by external influences (air, colouring, ...)

In other news: my thyroid hormones - thyroid disfunction is another cause of infertility - are also nicely balanced, and I'm immune against rubella.

Good to know I'm sound and well ;)

And FOLX? You REWL. I am so proud and honoured to have your support. And you know what? When my pledge "runs out" next May, guess where I'll renew it ... THANX so much for putting up with me!

*hugs*

What is it with doctors? I thought they were supposed to be our friends? These misdiagnoses of yours really frighten me!!! Lead poisoning isn't a mistake a doctor should make.

Well, at least you are well. That's great. But I sort of want to punch someone in the nose. Not that I've had bad experiences with the medical system lately myself or anything...

Take care of yourself.

Catherine

This wasn't a doctor, it was a nutritionist, and the diagnosis was made on the basis of a hair mineral analysis, which looks at long-term deposits. The blood test tells me that it's not a current problem; I'm sceptical about further hair tests, because my hair is coloured, and incidentally, I quite like it that way. Also, lead from the environment (i.e. cars) might get into your hair and stay there.

All of this freaks me out enormously. There seems to be no way of being able to trust a healthcare practitioner anymore, so you HAVE to educate yourself. (Time to start reading the Scientific American I've subscribed to!) iVillage seems a pretty comprehensive site ...

Maybe we can IM about this some day? (*cough*what's your ID again*cough*)
