central heating - shmentral heating
Oct. 9th, 2003 10:21 amwell, we have been without central heating and hot running water for a week now. It started last Thursday, when we noticed that the heating wouldn't go on. The plumber came yesterday, and exchanged a blown fuse and a broken pump. Still no joy - the pipes are blocked. Apparently, the flat's owners over the years conveniently forgot to have the pipes flushed. This is the second new pump in two years, folks. The plumber doesn't have time to flush the pipes until November time. All they are doing right now are "emergency jobs", you see. Oh, and folks - don't leave the boiler running over the summer or all day long, just because you want hot water on tap whenever you fancy it. Bad for the boilers, apparently.
So, no half day at The Company to eat up work time. Just two hectic hours of supervision, e-mails, lunch, before I had to head over to Queen Margaret to prepare my lecture.
Well, it's up to our landlady now. She needs to find a plumber that will see to the pipes in the flat asap. Luckily I'm flexible enough to work from home :(
Although I would appreciate a NICE HOT LONG BATH ...
