Phew. So I finally delurked on the Chris Morris fan site. I really like that guy's work. Anybody else here who knows/appreciates him? V. dark satire, exactly up my street.
Now looking forward to exchanging e-mails with studenty types who think that swearing is freaxing cool. What the heck.

In related news - I've been found by two v. interesting users, [livejournal.com profile] sourcebook and [livejournal.com profile] brightfame. We've friended each other, and I'd like to introduce you each other.

Most of my LJ friends share a passion for Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. We met at a site called The Sugar Quill, which is a very warm and supportive environment for the purveyors of fine Harry Potter fan fiction. [livejournal.com profile] sourcebook and [livejournal.com profile] brightfame share an interest in Christian spirituality and mysticism.

Sourcebook writes semi-autobiographical fiction and stores it in his LJ entries, while
Brightfame is pursuing a doctorate in the sociology of religion. His entries might be of particular interest to seekers like Frankie. He has another LJ that he uses as a fiction outlet.

So, check each other out! :)

So which fairy tale archetype are you? Hmm??

made by Michelle at EmptySpace.

Yes, we wants the preciousssssssssss .........

You want Legolas!
Your lust object is Legolas. After the battle,
he'll find a nice, quiet, dark and CLEAN
room[because dirt in hair is a big no-no], lay
you down and... wait, marriage comes first with
elves. Right, after the battle, go get your
parents consent [and his of course], have a big
wedding [because this is Legolas and I'd doubt
you'd ever want to divorce him, therefore this
will be your only wedding and then it has to be
big] followed by a night of sweet love-making
then two whole weeks of him shagging you
senseless. Sounds like a plan?

Which Helm's Deep soldier do you wanna shag?

While musing on all things British - anybody out there with a shared "appreciation" for the realistic, down-to-earth saviour of mankind that is Lord Jeffrey Archer? I just read his "prison diary" and it ROX. Will post excerpts if there's interest.

Chris Moriss is brilliant.

Never dared go near an Archer novel, though. :)

Many thanks for the intro. As for you - interests from Harry Potter to Chris Morris (covering naive to cynical spectrum pretty comprehensively) And from previous posts you also extend from computational linguistics to arcane mysticism. Both a model for the new Renaissance woman and, probably, someone who's spread pretty thin keeping up with it all.

Oh for broadband connection and minimal supervision at work!

Cheers

Many many thanks for the intro! I had been thinking of doing something similar, especially after reading [livejournal.com profile] sourcebook's short stories (review coming soon at my lj).

But I should 'come clean'. I also have an interest in Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings. I try to hide it because a) I got tired of fanfic and am trying not to let it distract me anymore (please no-one mention [livejournal.com profile] vanishedtales, I know I'm inconsistent), b) I was a Tolkien fan since the age of ten and I simply look down my nose at all the johnny-come-latelys who just saw the films. Hah! But can you write in Tengwar?

For those in the HP fandom, I used to be Tituba, and then Rosecross. And I'm actually female, though I try not to let this distract people. ;)

cheers

There are so many interesting people out there.

gender switch

guess I'll have to mentally switch you back to female. had you as female originally (is style of writing a reliable indicator, do you think?) then flipped you to male due to the Bajan heads on Renaissance.

Not that it matters - apologies if I've wrongly gendered you on any posts or references.

Cheers
