This just promised to my landlady.

> What we will do:
> - Take down everything we mounted to the walls except for the coat
> hangers in the hallway
> - Fill in all drill holes in the kitchen and living room
> - Repaint the bedroom walls in an off white colour (we will not repaint
> the radiators)
> - Repaint the living room walls in a light cream colour (we will not
> repaint the radiators)
> - Repaint the kitchen wall on the side of the cooker and the kitchen wall
> opposite the sink (we will not repaint the radiators)
> - Vacuum the flat, clean all cork floors and dust all surfaces
> throroughly
> - Clean sink, cooker and the fridge

she also wanted us to take down the coat hangers in the hall way (before, the flat had no coat hangers to speak of), but I dissuaded her successfully, because then, we'd have had to repaint the entire hall way in addition to living room, bedroom, and the kitchen wall with all the appliances on it.

I'm now going to take stock of what we own, so that I can start to plan how to store it in the new place. There's quite a lot of mess caused by inadequate storage. For example, stacks of CDs near the computer because we don't have a CD rack there, same in kitchen (CD rack in inconvenient place for CD player). No good place to do bills & stuff, because kitchen storage is v. inconvenient (a huge pantry, two measly cupboards, and two sets of two shelves), and living room is expensive to heat.

I've also decided, thanks to much support by [livejournal.com profile] anguaorc and [livejournal.com profile] queenriley to get rid of loads of clothes and donate them to a local charity shop. Mostly, these clothes are sizes I don't NEED wear anymore (like British size 16 and 14, if you get my drift). And should I ever put on a stone in weight BAX on again, I might as well go out and get myself some nice new fashionable clothes.

This weekend will be PURGING TIME!

Against all better knowledge, though, I'm keeping my collection of Newsweek and unread Scientific American. I am not going to subscribe to the New Scientist, though, and after we're through with painting walls, I'll also stop my subscription to Die Zeit (huge intellectual newspaper that I don't have time to read. V. good for floor covering though. Only beat by Sunday Times.)
