I saw POA while in my pre-exam trance with a bunch of lovely, lovely people: [livejournal.com profile] pinkfluffyllama, Darren, [livejournal.com profile] slowfox (the author of those nice photographs), [livejournal.com profile] joesther (great to know you, girl! sorry we only had so little time), [livejournal.com profile] dandelionsummer, her Faithful Slave, Podger fomr the Quill and last, but not least, Darren (next time we meet, we really have to talk more).

[livejournal.com profile] slowfox introduced me to the beauty that is York, before we all congregated in Pizza Express, where they'd forgotten our reservation.

And the movie?

Well, unlike COS, I won't be seeing this over and over again. The Potter magic has worn off. It's not a fairy-tale anymore.

Cinematically, I prefer this movie - more inventive, more faithful in tone to the books. I also liked the artistic liberties Cuaron took with the material. He focussed on the main story, and converted the Firebolt into a very potent symbol of freedom - for both Harry and Sirius.

What I did not like:
- Hermione's prominence. She's not the main heroine, she's not that dominant in the trio.
- Ron is not as bumbling as he was portrayed to be.
- R.J. Lupin. To me, Thewlis played him as a slimy git.

I'll go once more with my husband, but when faced with the choice between browsing Borders and going home to watch Kill Bill and another showing of POA, guess what I chose.

(what's more, Kill Bill is back due at Blockbuster at 10pm tomorrow. And we have Belleville Rendezvous to get through, as well. We saw Spirited Away yesterday. All three for the price of POA for two!)

Kill Bill is fun if you're a Tarantino fan. I personally liked it very much.

Big sigh over POA. Want to join me in some mockery critiquing over at my LJ?
