This is a personal assessment I did as part of the preparations for going into business as a therapist. I'm posting them here in meme-form. Feel free to filch the headings and post the meme in your own LJ!

The headings are adapted from Cherie Sohnen-Moe, Business Mastery, Third Edition, p. 3

Major Accomplishments:
• Very fast at getting Abitur, first degree and Ph.D.
• Extremely versatile: industry and academic experience, research in a wide range of fields
• Long list of publications

Talents and Abilities:
• Quick mind
• Good listener
• Caring
• Keen on learning more
• Keen on knowing the details

Challenges and obstacles overcome:
• Isolated at school (now have friends)
• Overprotective parents (am living far away)
• Intermittent depression and suicidal thoughts (am coping)
• Infertility (am coping finally after two and a half years of pain)
• Difficulty in maintaining friendship (getting better thanks to e-mail friendships)
• Aversion to sports (I do have stamina and can run and swim)
• Fixed idea that I wasn’t good at any physical activity (I AM good at massage)

The three things…
… I do best:

• Find out about things
• Be married
• Work hard

… I do least well:
• Keep calm
• Make music
• Eat healthily

… I want to be remembered for:
• Being a good friend
• Beling a good wife
• Contributing to knowledge

… I want to accomplish in my life:
• Have a loving and harmonious family life
• Have a strong circle of friends
• Be a respected scholar and scientist

How would you like others to describe you?
• Loving
• Intelligent
• Strong
• Inspirational
• Supportive

What would you concentrate on if you had only …

… three years to live?

• Write up papers
• Stop working in academia one year before D-Day and take time out to travel: US, Iceland, New Zealand, Japan
• Focus more strongly on the massage business

… one year to live?
• Finish the work I have to do, and take on no new work
• Read 4 books a week
• Walk the West Highland Way
• Travel Scotland with my husband
• Meditate every day
• Travel to Iceland, New Zealand and Japan
• See Yellowstone again
• Spend a week on holiday with my parents so that I can be with them without living with them

And why aren’t you doing that now?
• Travel: the mortgage. That would be paid off in full with my death, so we wouldn’t need to worry about paying it off early.
• Taking on no new work: I like my work too much, and juggling many balls makes me feel alive and vibrant
• Writing up papers: scheduling problem
• Walking: weekends full of work, plus husband doesn’t like exercise. But I could persuade him to walk more.

I just spent some time doing this for myself and found it very useful - thank you. It's better structured than a lot of these things. But I'm afraid I'm not making it public :-)
