Leave a comment with your name if you want to know what I really think of you, and I’ll reply and tell you. No lies, all honesty.

Post it in your journal after I do yours so I can see the reverse.

I'll answer on Wednesday, September 8. Won't post much before that - holiday, then one last run through on Monday night & interview preparations, then job talk on Tuesday, with five interviews, one lunch, and one dinner, and interview on Wednesday morning.

I'm taking Wednesday off after that - will need some rest and relaxation

And keep well, Floridans - poor souls ...

You're very well travelled, and you genuinely want to understand other cultures and live in/with them. This requires an openness that I greatly admire.

I'm so happy I was able to see and meet you in El Paso. I'll never forget the hours you spent together, chatting away over dinner. I admire your resolve to pull yourself back together, and the way you integrate work, study, and, last but not least, being a wife and mother. You're truly inspirational.

Bites hard. :)

Good luck with the interviews.

When I first met you, I was very impressed by how laid back and friendly you were. You've been a constant inspiration and really helpful in all my schemes to visit Iceland - up until now abortive, but should I get That Job, we will definitely have the money to Do It. I love the way you share your passion for Nordic sagas, and your quest for learning.

And? I'm using this icon on purpose too! Hildi and I buy our sweaters at the same store. :)

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed having you to stay - the exchanges, the chat, ranging from deep to mundane. I love company with whom I just click, and you're one of them. You're a role model as an academic teacher, and I genuinely admire your quest to be yourself. You've come an incredibly long way, and you've fought hard to be where you are now. As a result, you have more than people of more "advantageous" backgrounds, because you know what makes a good man and what makes a good friend.

I love the way you write about your writing, and your openness to spirituality. You seem to have grown and matured a lot. I also admire the way you cope with what must be very difficult parents - yet you and you husband manage to lead a stable, happy, loving marriage.

Awwwww, where do I begin? My TWIN! Such a set of coincidences was meant to happen. Born within a day (and a couple of insignificant years of each other), we've struggled with a similar issue, and I'm really happy for you. I admire and fully support the choice you made. It's great that you and Colin are now true filmmakers, and you now have more space to pursue your amazing creativity. The days spent with you in Montana were the true highlight of our trip west (beating Yellowstone, and that's saying something.) You also managed the amazing feat of cracking my husband, who still remembers you very fondly and rarely goes a month without donning a certain T-Shirt. I feel so at home with you that when I think of a place to go to should the going get rough, I think of you.

Come to Scotland. NOW!

Apart from that, you're pretty much perfect. You're a good mother, you manage your household well, you weather very difficult crises, you're very mature. You've also found your spiritual path, and that is worth its weight in gold.

Now all you need to do is believe in yourself and in your academic abilities. You will excel at this uni lark. Trust me.

As a Midge, you are the scourge of the Scottish Highlands, the true Loch Ness Monster. Gazillions of hikers have cursed you over and over.

No, remusly.

You are more resilient than you think you are. You may be going through a bad patch, but I think that you will emerge much more mature and wiser. You have God on your side, Frankie, and I really respect your serious devotion, and your evident desire to spread God's love. He won't desert you.

That's not pertinent to the meme, but I needed to say it anyway.

I have to say that I'm a bit torn as to whether or not I do. Not that I think I'd get a response that would drive me into hiding, but I always feel--justified or not, and I'm quite sure that it's not at all justified in the case of this meme--as if asking would make me seem needy or self-centered, like whatever I think about or feel towards another person is predicated solely on whether or not that person is adequately focussed on *me.* I don't want you to think that I gave you moral support or that I say that I appreciate you as a way to get you to think about *me.* I do that because I care about you, I admire you, and because I think very, very highly of you.
