the joys of ranting
Apr. 7th, 2003 01:50 pmI love BT Openworld (not). They will activate our Broadband connection tomorrow, but as of today, I still only have confirmation of having passed one of the two tests they mentioned. What's more, they keep addressing me as Mister. Now, those of you who know my name can see how ridiculous that is - my first name is a quintessential woman's first name. Then, they sent me the modem. Via PARCELFORCE. Brits, you can imagine the horror. They *mailed* me (first class) the card stating that they hadn't encountered me at 9am (somebody should've been able to let them INTO the tenement at that time. I mean, we have STUDENTS in one of the flats :)), and that they would try again on Monday. So, this evening, hubby and me will be hoofing it to the outskirts of lovely Edinburgh to retrieve my ADSL modem from the clutches of the incompetent postal service.

On a related note, our car got smashed in Inverness the weekend before last. 'Twas a roundabout, and there's now a big huge dent in the passenger seat's door. Nothing else happened - thank God for our stable Audi. The insurance, DirectLine, has three affiliated garages near Edinburgh - Loanhead, Bonnyrigg and Glasgow. Pfffffft. At least they're paying, which is good, seeing that the car has sentimental value.

and now for something completely different - the name meme ...
