The problem with LJ is that we all *think* we are close, yet we know nothing about each other. I'd like to rectify that. I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me - something that should be obvious, but you don't have any knowledge of it.

Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.

Stomach has calmed down, but still don't want to eat. I had half a small bag of banana chips and a scone for lunch. The scone I had to force down. VERY interesting. I'm not normally like this with scones, you know. If this hadn't been a scone, I would have been tempted to chuck it after the first few bites. And my Galaxy Minstrels are on my desk unopened.

AND - I don't want a decaf latte at all today.

Very, very unusual. Either I'm really sick or my body has its metaphorical hands on its metaphorical hips and forces me to fast.

(FYI just started my period, so it won't be THAT)

All of them. At the moment, it's Martha Beck's Finding your North Star. If I want to draw boundaries between myself and my parents, I first need to know where my own centre is.

Where in Germany did you come from? Did you bring your guy from Germany, or did you find yourself a Scotsman? How old are you? (just curious)

I grew up in a Niederrhein town near Düsseldorf - not saying which on an entry which is not F-locked tightly.

My husband's German - he followed me over to Scotland in July 2001. I'd moved up in March 2001. And I'm 30.

Hm, quite young for a habil, then. (Meaning you're younger than I, and I'm still waiting for my stupid disputation.)

Near Duesseldorf - not too far from where I grew up. Helau, then.

Indeed. I mean, most people have their Ph.D. by the time they're 30. Why should I keep up the rat race just to get my Habil at 32?

Right. - Of course, I just turned 31, and I still haven't got my Ph-D. - regardless of the fact that I finished writing it more than a year ago and turned it in this July.

I wish I had the ability to play an instrument and sing, bu t despite 11 years of piano lessons and hanging around a variety of choirs, I have neither. One of the big regrets of my life.

What do you like best about Scotland, and have you ever thought of moving to the States?

Scotland is far more chilled and laid back than Germany, coupled with a spectacular scenery. Plus, both of us love it here; it's the first place we've ever made truly our home.

I wouldn't want to live in the States permanently because I like the sense of connection to a long history you have in Europe, the variety, the values, the outlook. Also, I would feel uncomfortable in a country governed by a Shrub. Finally, I like having great public transport and I hate having to drive everywhere, because I can't drive myself.

Having said that, I wouldn't mind spending some time in California, Oregon, Washington State, or on the East Coast. but that won't happen - my husband really, really doesn't like American politics.
