communication ...
This is a short entry from WORX - tonight is dedicated to COS, and since our DVD player hates our broadband modem ... I will not be online.
I really, really enjoy being with all of you and talking to all of you. Instant messaging has taken my
productivity to new heights :)
Funnily enough, I feel confident and at ease when IMming people - in RL I'm considerably quieter and more reticent. It's probably the quality one-to-one communication that I'm getting.
See, I'm not really a social animal. I don't feel comfortable in pubs or at parties, and I don't like getting drunk. I much prefer being awake and intellectually stimulated - either self-stimulated (daydreaming) or exchanging views and ideas. The fact that my husband is extremely quiet doesn't help.
(I can be silly, too. Of course I can.
angua9 is my witness.)
I don't think there's anything wrong with me - in the immortal words of the book title: I'm not crazy, I'm just not you.
So, Geekmoot will be a bit of a challenge - I'll need to stretch myself and become more outgoing again.
Go find my 21-year-old self.
And a nice wizard robe plus a Big Head Girl badge and some red hair dye.

Oh, trust me, it won't be hard. We'll all be giggling and jumping for joy at the strangest moments. And then, after midnight, not a word will be uttered until we're done. Every. Last. Page. I love summits, because every so often, you get that long silence where everyone is working on their own thing, be it fic, or secret evil plots... but it's just enough being in the room together with all that Harry Potter-ness.

And besides, you're not the only one who's better at dealing with people individually rather than in a group. It's one of the bonuses of hanging around with nerds - a good few of us are the exact same way, and certainly won't hold a bit of awkwardness in large group situations against you. :)
