Much fun was had on Sunday with [livejournal.com profile] angelofthenorth - in Quaker Meeting, the National Portrait Gallery, and assorted bookstores, where she wrote and I read. Currently, my laptop houses the latest sequel of her novel Sojourner ~is tempted to take a peek~ ...

As for the nutcases: Don't read this if you like Sweden, or are Swedish, or like gays, or sympathise with Tsunami victims. From the people who give Evangelical christianity and Baptists a bad name, here's an absolutely awful Love Crusade

Reading this makes me feel blessed that I know so many loving and sensible Baptists and Evangelicals. Even those people on my F-List who are against gay marriage and regard homosexuality as a sin would draw a huge thick line at THIS sort of behaviour.

I read that, a couple of days ago. First it made me angry, but thankfully, I can't stay mad for long. Instead, I went and christened my journal. It now has a name. :P

Sigh. I'm not surprised. Phelps is known for his hateful rhetoric and his vicious attacks on queer-identified people--or those he perceives as queer--are notorious n the United States. There have been allegations that he's abusive to his family as well (you can google him to get the transcripts from a court case and a journalist's investigation of the Phelps church). If the allegations are true, that wouldn't surprise me, either.

I thought I recognised that particular flavour of insanity. Incestuous (in the business sense) little church he has there. Rabid.

You're very welcome to read it....

Hope things went well today, and I shall see you later.

Although I may not be going into Edinburgh Waterstone's again (http://www.woolamaloo.org.uk/2005/01/those-who-profess-to-favor-freedom-and.htm) soon.
