Nah, a disgruntled IT minion would have called the server something like "hal9000.institution.edu" or "infinitemonkeys.institution.edu". This looks more like the work of a droid (definition here: http://www.clueless.com/jargon3.0.0/droid.html), probably following strict guidelines on how to form a new domainname. :-)
