Misjudged my centre of gravity and spilled a little water over the laptop keyboard yesterday evening. I still don't have a desk set up, so was doing some work on the bed. Some touchpad and persistent keyboard malfunctions later, I shut it down. It shut down gracefully, but wouldn't power back up. The computer is now drying out.

I've ordered a hard drive enclosure for my HDD, which stayed dry. (the one I have doesn't fit the Hitachi Travelstar in the DELL) to be delivered tomorrow (i.e. ASAP).

Trying to keep my composure. So much to do, so little time, so powered out that I can't work weekends anymore.

Eeek! Tnanks for the text last night, but I really don't know what to suggest re the hard drive caddy for the new drive, I'm afraid :-(

*ponders* I'll have a poke around the interwebs and see if anything comes up.

Not to worry, I've found and ordered one already. I just hope that it will work with the Hitachi drive's connector, otherwise I'm stuffed. Oh yes, and then there's the possibility that my puter will be fine in the end.

If you can dry it out completely, it might be okay because it's only water. I spilled diet pepsi on Rick's laptop and it wouldn't power up for a while (like a few weeks) He had to take it into work and have it fixed, but I'm not sure what they did.

It's just water, and it's really hot and dry here right now. My husband is cursing ...

This centre of gravity thing is really weird by the way - for a while, I didn't venture to the upper floor of double decker busses because I felt that I might topple over any second. It doesn't help that baby's fancying a growth spurt. Walking speed is severely reduced.

I had to hold my breath when I read the first sentence of your post - I thought you meant a different kind of water. As in "water breaking"... >_<

Anyway, I hope your compluter is okay. They usually work fine after they dry out. But don't forget that your body is still working full time. Making a baby is a lot of work. Please make sure you get your rest. :)
