First of all,

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

And now for some memeage: This is the letter R, brought to you courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] jessandi (happy belated birthday - sorry I didn't get around to congratulating you, I mainly just read LJ these days :( )

R: first letter of our daughter's name. I never thought she would be so much fun, or mean so much to me.

R: also the first letter of my mother's name. Our relationship has improved a lot after I had my daughter. I understand her much better, and she respects me more.

R: first letter of the town I grew up in, now part of a larger town. I wouldn't really want to return - the countryside is not very prepossessing, very flat and full of farms. I mostly cherish my home town for the memories of growing up there. I'd never sell my parents' house, and I would like to show my daughter where Mummy grew up, but I'm not actually homesick for it. This might change when my parents die, but right now, I pine far more for the city where I went to university.

Rest: something I don't get enough of these days. However, DD's sleeping is improving, and I find times such as the weekend, when DH looks after DD a lot, incredibly restful.

Renovations: We still need to renovate my study (smoothe out gaps in plaster, wallpaper, paint, put down soundproofing), and this will be a two-week job for DH. It's the last room to be done for a while. After that, we probably won't embark on any further large projects until DD moves into her own room or we move. We also need to fix bits and pieces of the floor.

Reading: my favourite past time. I read while I feed DD, I read myself to sleep in bed, I'm constantly hunting for books to read to DD.

Rowling: If it weren't for the HP fandom, I wouldn't be here on LJ and I wouldn't have met lots of lovely people. Nuff said.

Running: I used to run regularly while still living in Germany. I want to get fitter again, so I've signed up to a programme at work that helps you design your own fitness routine.

Royal Museum: A favourite place to hang out with the whole family.

Research: My day job, and a job I love to boot. I'm now mainly a researcher with some admin thrown in, and it's great. So challenging, so interesting, so much to do.

And the baby update: She's nine months and one week now, she's started to cruise, she is into everything, she follows me around the flat. Her sleeping has become a LOT better: only 3-4 wakings per night, at 11, 3, and 6. She goes to bed at around 8.30-9 (I know, I know) and wakes between 7 and 7.30. During the night, I mostly apply the booby snooze button: she will feed from both breasts while I lie down for about 10-15 minutes and then pop off, ready to fall back asleep.

We've also turned a corner regarding her consumption of solids. She will now eat a pot of 100g fruit puree or half a banana, and she's regularly having 1/4 or 1/2 her lunch at nursery plus all her fruit pudding and a couple of oatcakes.
