Travel Plans
Dec. 9th, 2004 02:22 pmOn December 15th, I'm going to wing my way down to Bangor via Manchester. On the afternoon of the 15th, I will give a talk there on work I did for my M.Sc. in Computer Science (yes indeed!). On the 16th, I will travel from Bangor to Cardiff and back up again in a day. There is no direct train connection, so I'll have to travel between two Welsh cities via the English town of Crewe (!). On the 17th, I will be relaxing and geeking and touristing with ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
brightfame and another friend of hers, taking in a castle recommended by sff_corgi. On the 18th, I'll leave Bangor at 12:10 for Manchester Piccadilly, where I'll arrive before 3pm and from where my Edinburgh train leaves at 5pm. This leaves me with two hours for meeting and geeking with some people (looks sideways at siri_eerin).
I'm really looking forward to seeing Wales!

ex-company cull
Dec. 9th, 2004 10:49 pmI just went to the last Christmas party of my ex-company.
Of which there's not much left.
They kept a sum total of 12-13 employees of 40.
Whole teams have been laid off.
People are in utter shock.
The redundancy money is paltry: £ 250 per year worked at the company. My replacement, who joined in January this year, moved from Germany to work for them, gets NOTHING.
