Good habits
Oct. 7th, 2006 05:45 pmIn order to increase my productivity and become more parsimonious, I've made the following plan:
- for every work day that I use the internet responsibly, I give myself £4 towards a book. (This means LJ only during my lunch break, checking work email only three times a day, and private email only once, during my lunch break.)
- for every day I don't buy a latte, I give myself £2 towards a book
- for every day I don't buy takeaway food, but bring my own instead, I give myself £2 towards a book
In the first instance, this will lead to me spending more (hopefully on books!) - in a week of sticking to this plan, I will "earn" £44 towards spending on books. However, if I stick with this for two months, I hope that the habits will become so ingrained that I can stop the rewards.
