so, I´ve been silent for a while - but that´s because I´m enjoying myself at this conference I´m attending in Barcelona. There´s no time for me to catch up with y´all - so apologies if my comments seem much scarcer than usual.
it´s really very stimulating to be here, but I´m putting the emphasis on meeting people, and not on cramming in as many talks and posters as possible. The program starts at 9 and finishes at 18.30 - with NO BREAK during midday. We are talking Barcelona in August, folks. I pity the people who have their posters during the lunch break (!!!)
my poster is on Thursday in the afternoon. If Karma theory is correct, I should get very few interested people, because I myself tend to read posters from a distance and only home in on the person presenting the poster if I am really VERY interested and have a specific question.
For the non-academics among you: talks are normal talks with discussion, for a poster, you condense the main point of your work onto an A0 poster (or several A4 slides, or whatever) and during the poster session, you place yourself strategically in front of said A0 or A4 paper to answer any questions that come your way from interested participants.

Date: 2003-08-05 09:11 am (UTC)Who came up with *that* idea? Barcelona + August should equal something like this:
First session: 7:00 - 11:00
siesta
Second session: 17:00 - 21:00
Dinner 22:00-ish
You all must get very pitying looks from the locals, no? :-)
