Some people on my friends list have had some exposure to German. They will surely appreciate this article by Mark Twain.

In other news, I've been fawning over a new baby girl (colleague's daughter) and
have reached an interesting stage in the infertility saga: I strongly believe I will never get
pregnant. This belief depresses me slightly on one hand, on the other hand, I'm now throwing myself
into my patchwork career, as [livejournal.com profile] sourcebook called it - where having a baby would be difficult.

I also subvert my attempts at getting pregnant by having
sugar and coffee. Part of me is saying "What the hell - this will never work - I might as well have fun!"

Oh, and I might be teaching sociolinguistics this term. Keep your fingers crossed for me ... I will post
a summary of my lectures here. You seem to be sufficiently interested :)

I take it the tests haven't been good?

I don't know how long you've been pursuing this; like you, I've pretty much given up, but it doesn't keep hope from rearing its ugly head now and then, or from me still feeling some disappointment.

I had a bazillion people tell me "once you give up and relax, it'll probably happen" which is the fastest way to keep you *not* relaxing. :-P Ignore anything anyone tells you.

Finding something you enjoy, in the meantime, is a Good Thing. :)

I haven't had them done yet - we only got our freezer a month ago :( I need to move that fertility appointment to March ...

Yeah, "Do Relax". Right up there with "Be Spontaneous"

Loved the Mark Twain article. "In German, a young lady has no sex, while a turnip has." - priceless!!

::hugs::

Good luck with everything. I'm thinking about you, and wishing you the best.

And please do post your lectures. I would love to see them. :)
