It's all very well to pledge, but you also have to admit failure.
Well, no Yoga yesterday, and no writing.
I went to see my nutritionist, since she had the results of my
hair mineral analysis. Turns out that I have lead poisoning, i.e.
the lead in my hair is seven times the really-safe amount, and three times the just-safe amount.
Lead is highly toxic. It can lead to sterility, birth defects, and stillbirth. I will abstain from trying to conceive for three months in a bid to rid my body of these toxins. I will also take strong supplements to support my liver.
Since we live in a Victorian tenement, it's highly likely that the water tank and our water pipes contain lead. If this turns out to be the case, and our landlady isn't willing to have both pipes and tank ripped out, we will have to move. This is a pity, because our flat is beautiful and in one of the nicest parts of Edinburgh.
As a result of this development, I will
- only use bottled water for cooking and drinking
- step up my consumption of fruit and veg (seven servings a day!)
- make sure I get enough decent protein
I've resolved not to beat myself up about having the analysis done so late in the day - at least, my body is now in a far better position to fight the toxicity than before.
On a lighter note, I finally put a voice to
swampfaye's face and writing yesterday.
It was great talking to you!
