so, the meter readings were correct. But the gas company seems to have trouble converting the reading given by our meter into their schema. Probably, our gas meter gives the exact number of KWh consumed, not some odd number that has to be converted before you get the KWh.

Also, successful visit to a medical herbalist trained at the School, where I'm being trained as a massage therapist ...

She actually LISTENED to what I had to say, asking detailed questions about all sorts of symptoms. Questions that the doctors at Edinburgh RI never even broached (consistency of my menstrual blood, side of tugging before menstruation, ...)

She also took great care not to overload me with supplements. I'm now taking a tincture three times a day and another first thing in the morning. Plus a supplement called Floradix with Iron. She is suspecting anaemia. I'm looking to [livejournal.com profile] fanweight for help with carrying this resolution through.

Also, she has stressed the importance of sorting out my diet. She has not clamped down on me, but talked the language of reducing toxins and taking responsibility. I like that sort of attitude.

After the consultation, which lasted an hour and a half, I felt that I was in good hands at last.

The most important thing though is that I do not feel guilty about my crappy diet. Rather, thanks to the work that I've been doing and to the Reiki, I now accept that this has been part of the learning process. The conception problems are forcing me to look after myself properly. And at 30, if I sort out my diet now, I still have five golden years of trying in front of me.

Good to hear that you feel you're in good hands. From my experience so far, she sounds like a typical medical herbalist. I think what I like best about them is the attitude. It's the attitude of a healer, in my opinion. When something they give you doesn't work, they say "so that doesn't work, let's try this instead." Doctors on the other hand often only seem to have two options - one that doesn't work and one that does work but has such awful side effects they don't want to give it to you. I guess that's why they so often resort to scolding their patients.

Yeah, my repeat appointment in three weeks is to see whether the current tincture works.

I don't know all the details of your medical condition, but a good herbalist should be able to help some of it. I prefer the Eastern medical attitude of treating the entire self and not just a small bit. Everything affects the whole. Have you gone to an acupuncturist/herbalist? I've had such good results with my wrists by going that route.

Good luck to you!

No, but I'm also going to a Shiatsu practitioner and a Reiki practitioner. And this particular herbalist has also been trained in the use of the Chinese herbs and in general prescribes holistically.

Basically, I'm starting to figure that if it's not something anatomical or neurological, a herbalist plus good nutrition plus should mind/body work should do the trick.

I'm so happy to hear that the consultation went well! The whole thing just radiated with optimism, and though this may sound silly, I actually feel happier too just from reading about it.

I'll keep sending positive vibes your way as well!
