Well, as you know, I'm a 30-something male who lives and works in the fair city of Hull, earning a living programming computers.

I was born in Sussex - Eastbourne, to be precise - and Brighton, where I spent a large part of the formative years of my youth will always feel like home to me, despite the fact that I never officially lived there.

What keeps me going? Different things, but generally my own sense of self, and my individuality/independence/self sufficiency (no surprises there, I take it).

I don't really have goals/dreams/ambitions - well, I have plenty of dreams, but not in the 'ambitious' sense - the dream world is completely separate from reality, and I like to visit, but not to stay.

I'm an atheist, so I don't believe in any form of divine being, or beings... that said, I do believe in peace and stillness, and seek fitness for purpose in all things.

Hmm. Well, I'm from Murray, Utah, which is just outside of Salt Lake City. At the moment I'm a temporary office assistant/bottom of the food chain drudge at a virtual university, but I'm starting work on my Masters in British Lit. in the fall. Reading, writing, chatting with friends online and good chocolate (none of this waxy Hershey stuff, give me Cadbury any time) keep me going. I eventually want to get my Ph.D. in British Lit., hopefully to teach on a collegiate level. I dream of traveling to wonderful places, especially places I've read about-- England, France, New Zealand, Prince Edward Island. I believe in God, and in OBHWF, and in love and friendship and the importance of family, and in good, clean fun.

Oh, and in goofing off online when I'm supposed to be working. :D

I think you'll know all this already, but here goes: I'm a 39-year-old part-time tax accountant, living in Hull, East Yorkshire, where I've lived for the last 20 years. I was born and bred in Essex, just east of London and moved to Hull when I came here to university. I'm married with two children.

I try not to have too many dreams/ambitions these days, as I've had my fill of disappointments. But I do like to start what I finish, so I intend to at least try and finish the chaptered fic I'm writing, even if it takes me years. Most of my goals/ambitions relate to seeing my kids grown up and happy. To find and pursue something I'm more than mediocre at would be nice too, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

As a Christian, I believe in a personal God that it is possible to know.

I'm a 27-year-old scholar from Adelaide, South Australia, currently unemployed and job-hunting in the very slow academic job market...what keeps me going are my friends, my desire to do work that I love, and a general enjoyment of the world. It's a nice place to live, or it would be if people didn't keep doing stupid things...

My goals are to work as a researcher and teacher in the field of English Literature, to write better than I do now--and more!--and to live happily.

I believe in myself and my friends, and in the chances and connections that are the inescapable consequences of living within a closed system.

That was probably a bit...serious, wasn't it...

As far as your meme goes...

My name is Dawn. I live in Ohio, USA, although I was born and raised in California. I work at a group home with people who have mental retardation and developmental disabilties, but gave my letter of resignation today, finding myself tired and worrysome for not-so-good reasons. Sad, this, as I have spent the past seven years working there. It is for the best, however.

I also go to college, a voice major. Singing, music...they keep me going. They have kept my spirit alive for a very long time, since I can remember.

Also, I have amazing friends and a good family who all keep me afloat. I don't know what I would do without their kindness and love.

I dream of living a comfortable life as a performer. I am talented and have worked very hard at becoming who I am and shall be. I do not need to be rich, but to live peacefully and without worries of money or food on the table, to know I can support myself and, if all goes accordingly, a loving family of my own, all by way of the love of singing...this is my ultimate dream.

I believe that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. I have seen far too many miracles in my life, not to mention having set goals into place only to accomplish them as I chose to. It's about utilizing the spirit (not to sound flaky, but it suits here~;) and the strength of that spirit...truly, the world can be an oyster, so long as you're gentle with the pearl.

The job can be taxing, although not because of the people I am caring for. I have worked as a supervisor for a few years and it has taken more of a toll on me than being a caregiver ever has; working to be the mediator between staff issues that seem so self-explainatory to me...just not worth the stress in my life, ya know?
