Yesterday evening, after a certain phone call, as I was bouncing around the flat to the mellow sounds of the James Bond theme tune, my husband observed: "You sure enjoyed talking to [livejournal.com profile] piperx." Oh, my darling can read me just fine :)

Alfonso Cuaron quote from the NYT:

"Harry Potter deals with class, with race, with power. I see this book as a metaphor for our times. The evil Voldemort is very similar to Saddam Hussein. Or George Bush. They're really the same. I believe George Bush and Saddam Hussein should go to a desert island together and relax. It would be a love affair, like in ''Y Tu Mamá También.'' And then there would be no war."

Even though I think Saddam is far worse than GWB, it's a fair comment with a badly needed sense of humour.

The German weekly Der Spiegel reports that anorexia now strikes more and more women in their 40's and 50's who want to recover their lost youth. That's a shame. Whenever I'm among older women, I'm reminded of the fact that women, especially those that have borne children, are *not* supposed to look like little girls. They are supposed to have curves, hips, a bum, a tummy, thighs, and boobs. What's wrong with looking normal?

I felt dizzy when I woke up today. It could be my usual cold-around-conception-time: make sure the immune system is all fired up so that we can safely reject any baby that dares to try to implant. Am leaving work early today.

It's true what he says about America's puritanical nature as evidenced by my embarrassment at some of the things he said in that interview. There's a lot of coming in the movie. *snicker* He doesn't mince words does he?

He's very exciting, though. I really can't wait to see what he does with PoA.

Sorry you're not feeling well. And sorry for the rest. Hang in there and try not to get depressed. JKR did it and she's way older than both of us. :)
