about [livejournal.com profile] pottersginny ... I wonder. My first reaction to her LJ was compassion. Why, oh why, is she filled with such hate? Look at her mood icons. Almost always angry or aggravated.

The second reaction was: What would Jesus say to her views?

The third: look at what a too literal interpretation of the *whole* bible can do to you.

Buddhism and Christianity taught me not to counter hate with hate, but with love.

In fact, Buddhism teaches us to love and respect all beings, including cockroaches, fluffy kittens,
and people like [livejournal.com profile] pottersginny.

They might be our teachers.

That said, would I like to be friended by [livejournal.com profile] pottersginny? No.

But you know what? I'll pray for her - and for me, so that I may never become as close-minded as her.

Lord Jesus, have mercy on us.

Percival, you are such a good person. My first thought when I saw her LJ was extremely un-Christian. I tend to react with humor as a defense mechanism. Anyway, I immediately thought all kinds of tacky things about the lilac eye shadow and the pajama pose, but I won't write them down here. I pity her too, if she's real. I can't imagine Imogen, Anne, Paula, or anyone connected with Gryffindor Tower to put up with that, but I can imagine someone trying to make them look bad. You know, if it turns out to be fake, then the perpetrators have way too much time on their hands and should be ashamed of themselves.

You forgot the squint ...

A friend told me that this sort of attire was fashionable among fundamentalists.

And yes, I probably had the very same uncharitable thoughts. Like, the Eighties have been over for several years now, honey.

So I'm not such a good person after all, you see.
