It's official, I'm mad. I'm going to Texas, George Bush International Airport, on December 31. I'll leave again for Edinburgh on January 8. In between, I hope to see quite a bit of [livejournal.com profile] angua9, [livejournal.com profile] queenriley, [livejournal.com profile] swampfaye, and [livejournal.com profile] bucketgirl while I'm down there. Hopefully, I will also be able to clap a beady eye on [livejournal.com profile] themorningstarr. ARRRR!

Any other Quillers who'd fancy to meet in Texas?

My massage courses are fantabulous. The massage teachers are very chilled. The aromatherapy teacher is a no-nonsense woman, very spiritual, very into posture, very into proper nutrition and looking after yourself. She takes "holistic" very seriously. The Swedish massage teacher is incredibly laid back and dry; he gives very little instruction and correction, but his demonstrations are powerful, and he teaches massage sequences that include Shiatsu points. the theory instruction is so-so - we're just getting a handle on the text books, but most of it has to be done during directed study, which is checked in assessments. For Massage Therapy, we need to learn not only Anatomy and Physiology, but also (new) Business Studies. ITEC, the body that will examine us, has revised their curriculum. Our book is good, a no-nonsense list of all you need to know when you set up in business.

Wah! Unfortunately, Texas is very, very far away from Massachusetts. Hopefully, you will visit the fair New England landscape on your journeys someday.

*sigh* I know I need to take the "holistic" thing more seriously. I have begun thinking of food as medicine, actually. And I know I need to improve my posture. I hyper-extend my lower back when I sit...it becomes excruciating after a while. I have a feeling weight loss will improve this condition.

I'm glad your massage courses are doing well. *hugs*

oh goodness, a bolt out of the blue... why are you coming here ? what will you be doing ?

my wife leads a Christian meditation class at the Episcopal (Anglican) Church we attend; you are invited to attend. I could take you around to sit with the various Buddhist sanghas.

What's a Quiller ?

Whee! Fantastic. A Quiller is somebody who visits the Sugarquill, a Harry Potter fan web site.

Yes, we definitely have to meet for a chat.

didn't realise you were in Texas

No, just visiting friends I made through the web site :)

But I'd be more than happy to meet your son and talk Potter ...

Since I'll be seeing you in Edinburgh next summer, I'll decline, otherwise it would have been a big yes.

Did you know that [livejournal.com profile] tapestrymlp is down there too?

Can I sway you by the prospect of a massage, and a summit with Yo, Angua, and Queenriley? That would be a fun weekend.
Maybe Kellie would be coming, too.

just asking ...

Even if Kellie comes? *giggles*

Am flattered that you view me as temptation to lure people to Texas. I also find it quite funny.

Will be able to go if substitute teaching, but even then only for maybe two days, as it is a 12 hour drive to Houston.

Anyway, will also need to save at least $300. Yikes. A lot of money for she who is broke and jobless.

Sorry - this answers my question to your later post, which I got to earlier. Sounds a great course. What's the textbook you refer to?
