tell me something about yourself ...
Dec. 12th, 2003 02:57 pmgacked from my Friends list:
I know very little about some of the people on my friends' list. Some people I know relatively well. I read your fic, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you.
But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal.

Date: 2003-12-15 10:31 am (UTC)Last year, Craig and I spent 10 days in France (Burgundy and Paris). This May, we'll spend 10 days in Norway (right around Independence Day which should be fun).
I've also been to the UK 5 times, including a trip to Scotland for our honeymoon 10 years ago.

Date: 2003-12-12 07:59 am (UTC)Hi Perceval
Date: 2003-12-12 08:13 am (UTC)I went to Catholic school as a child. When I was in 6th grade, I decided that I might want to be a nun because I thought that a life of service to God and others sounded beautiful. I didn't follow that path, but I still find it admirable. In fact, Sister Teresa is one of the people I most admire in the world.

Date: 2003-12-12 09:37 am (UTC)2) I am very fond of guinea-pigs and just received permission from my apartment manager and from my new roommate to bring my guinea-pig back to Madison with me when I return from Christmas vacation at my parents' house in Utah. My father is delighted.
3) I am a natural red-head, though the strawberry blonde of my childhood has darkened to a russet colour--more brown than red in some lighting conditions.
4) When I read fiction for pleasure, I average between 60 and 90 pages per hour. In the past three weeks, I have read ten and a half novels (six Anne Perry, four Dorothy Sayers, and half of a Laurie King). Hmm, it must be the end of the semester *grin*.

Date: 2003-12-12 10:20 am (UTC)2) I procrastinate. And I'm lazy. A very bad combination.
3) I have a very minor immune deficiancy problem. My immune system has never worked exactly right, nor has it ever produced enough t-cells, at least not what the doctors of my childhood felt it should produce. End result? I'm sick a lot. Very often in fact. But I've learned to deal with it.
4) Because of said immune deficiancy, I never get flu shots. Ever. I get sick from them rather than building immunity.
5) As a small child, probably about 4 years old, I wanted to be Boy George when I grew up. It was my greatest desire and no amount of explaining and reasoning on my mother's part could change my mind. I didn't fully understand why I couldn't be Boy George until I was about 7 or 8, nor did I understand why he was stigmatized until I was that age. Understanding came almost simultaneously.
Scared off yet?

Date: 2003-12-13 12:18 am (UTC)Either their first name begins with an 'A', an 'E' or an 'R', or their surname begins with a 'W'. And this runs from primary school, and captures every fleeting schoolboy crush I ever had.

Date: 2003-12-13 04:26 am (UTC)2) I very much enjoyed meeting you for those few hours in Edinburgh!
3) In a way I wish I'd known more about you beforehand and had actually had some sleep therefore being better company :)
4) I think I'm a chronic worrier. I'd love to learn Latin and the last CD I bought was Herbie Hancock's "Head Hunters".

Date: 2003-12-13 06:47 am (UTC)I'll be 23 on Monday. I am learning to drive stick so that I can drive my roommate's car to work and back. I was born in Greece, adopted in Florida, raised near Atlanta, GA, currently live in Norfolk, VA, and am getting ready to move to Mississippi in February (we got our lease last night!! We got the house!!!!).
I am more involved with the US Navy than the guys at work think (they think I know nothing). My Grandad was Navy, as well as four of my uncles, and of the six people I am closest to in the world outside of my family, four are currently in the navy, one will be next year, and one never will but was a "navy brat," so I am pretty familiar with the whole thing. Actually, my Grandad was among the original Seabees in 1942. I have no plans to ever join the military, EVER.
I am a special education major.
I am allergic to cats.
I hate airports, but I love flying.
This freaks some people out, but I am cross-eyed. I was born missing muscles in my left eye, and even after surgery to repair and replace muscles, I never developed binocular vision, and my left eye still turns in when I am not wearing glasses or contact lenses.
I am FINALLY losing the weight that I have been complaining about for years, and I am now the smallest I have been since 1996!!
