The company my husband works for has decided to cut 1000 jobs - a seventh of its work force - in Edinburgh.
We will probably know in September whether he will be among the people to be made redundant.
This means tightening our belts.

Don't look at it as 1000 people getting laid off, look at it as six sevenths of the workforce has job security. His odds are not too bad.
