pottersginny ... I wonder. My first reaction to her LJ was compassion. Why, oh why, is she filled with such hate? Look at her mood icons. Almost always angry or aggravated.
The second reaction was: What would Jesus say to her views?
The third: look at what a too literal interpretation of the *whole* bible can do to you.
Buddhism and Christianity taught me not to counter hate with hate, but with love.
In fact, Buddhism teaches us to love and respect all beings, including cockroaches, fluffy kittens,
and people like
pottersginny.
They might be our teachers.
That said, would I like to be friended by
pottersginny? No.
But you know what? I'll pray for her - and for me, so that I may never become as close-minded as her.
Lord Jesus, have mercy on us.

Date: 2003-05-09 07:14 am (UTC)I got to hear it from both sides though.
The good thing about it is... I don't consider myself "mixed race" - I'm American. I can be a mutt - that's what this place is all about - right? I know more and more mutts like me... and I hope people keep making MUTTS! The only way to get rid of the racism is for there to be no races. BUT, that being said... we'll just find another thing to be prejudiced about..
You summed it up perfectly . . .
