... I'd like to go to the States, something that will be difficult with a baby, but extremely feasible now.

We'd be very much swimming against the stream, what with the current mood in Europe. Now, I only have to persuade my husband, who's not too enamoured with the U.S. of A. But I hope some pics of beautiful countryside will be enough. I will also need to remind him that the States are a very large and diverse country where every single state has quite different characteristics. (True?)

We'd be focussing on the North-West, because of the temperatures (low) and the scenery (beautiful). (Personally, I like it hot, but my husband feels cooked when the temperatures rise much above 20 Celsius. He's also a country type, not a city type.) Ah yes, and because of the pleas of Lonely of Montana. You know who you are.

We'll see. Maybe Iceland will win out in the end. Wish me luck!

EDITED to say:

Happy Birthday Frankie!!!!!!!!!!

*pouncehugs and glomps*

May God be with you during the next year of your life.

LOL - well, as long as he wasn't wearing a sign - I don't think the anti war thing would matter. May is the last good month to visit. End of May things start to get hot and this is me talking - so I don't know about the tollerance to heat - 60 F is very cold for me. May tends to be in the 80's - but the flowers are amazing.

If you really need something milder for weather - Montana is better I suppose. Though... what in the blazes is there to do in Montana??? You want to see America, there are only 3 places to go - New York, Los Angeles, or Houston (maybe if you wanted to see a cartoon version, you'd go to Orlando).

*AHEM!* There are lots of wonderful things in Montana especially if you like the outdoors. There are mountains to hike and camp in in the summer and ski and snowmobile through in the winter. There is lots of nature unspoiled by human greed. Wildlife watching. Some of the best fishing in the country. We also have two of the most spectacular National Parks in the world (Yellowstone and Glacier).

Ah, but you're right. There isn't really all that much here. No big-city smog. No bumper-to-bumper rush hour traffic. No fear from an impending terrorist attack. Relatively little crime. No snipers. No rat race. Yep. None of that.

;)

No amusement parks, no Theaters, no Baseball, no Rodeo Houston, (Houston doesn't have smog, BTW), no major airports, no wetlands to speak of, no major entertainment venues, no orchestra, and isn't filled with refugee Canadians ;)

And when did we have snipers? You don't pull a gun in Texas unless you are willing to get shot back...

But.. Yup... I'm agreeing with you ;)

Hey now! We *do* have big entertainers here in Montana. Bob Dylan (!) was here six years ago. We've had big up-and-coming bands like Def Leppard not to mention Midget Wrestling. Heh. What else do you need?

We *do* have an orchestra and it's top notch! And when those kids finish elementary school, they're going to be even better.

Who needs amusement parks? We've got the endless miles of highway with no speed limit. ;)

And the refugee Canadians have mostly been edged out by the SUV-driving, refugee Californians.

(Okay, I lied. The powers-that-be reinstituted our speed limits a few years ago but I prefer not to remember this fact.)
