Basically, there seem to be three magic ingredients: a) find a diet that fits your lifestyle and eating preferences b) make sure it's varied enough c) stick to it.
I am increasingly frustrated with the so called "Diet plans" because in the end, they are about the money and nutrition and common sense get lost in the noise. I attended Weight Watchers last year. At least they do try to get you to eat your veggies and fruit and watch your portions. I really wish "diet" plans would go the way of the dodo.
Hmmm,, can you tell that I have weight issues? :)
This year we (meaning Clint and I) are getting portions under control. I am determined. Clint is to some degree {G}.
The best diet in the world was when I was 16 and had just had some surgery. (I should explain that I have been overweight all my life. I was born with triple chins {G}). Excited about the results of surgery, I asked the doctor for diet plan. He told me to fix my plate, call the dog and feed the dog half. Then eat what was left. {G} I got the point. Using the recommended portions for diabetics also helps.
Thanks for posting the article Perceval. It made sense to me.
Personally, I try to stick to the 'four-word-diet' : Eat less, move more :D Unfortunately, I think I need to discover a diet that is mostly composed of cola and crisps. Now that I could stick to.
Also, wanted to let you know I just donated 500 Ikr to help Tsunami victims in your name.

Most any diet, combined with exercise, will yield results... but I am personally skeptical about these very low-carbohydrate Atkins plans.

Date: 2005-01-05 03:13 pm (UTC)I found steaming veg quite helpful. They keep their size and shape, fill your plate, are nice and crunchy, and need minimum sauce, if at all ;)
